Unestablished Gospel artists often have a fickle chance of winning anything at the Groove Awards. Our LIT sources usually say that the best you can hope for is to network and to get some press for upcoming music. This was not the case this year! Fittingly, the theme of this year’s award show was: Reclaim, Rebuild, Reclaim.
Two of the biggest winners of the night were Guardian Angel of ‘Nadeka’ who was honored with the Artist of the Year Award and the trio of Timeless Noel, Jabidii & Hype Ochi who won four trophies for the unforgettable ‘Odi Dance.’ The award for Teen Choice Song of the Year went to Master Piece for his song ‘Chini Ya Mwamba’. Before their success last year most of these winners were unknown so it was wonderful to see them shake things up. Another highlight was the return of Avril who’s Gospel career has taken a backseat to motherhood recently, there are honestly no words to express our excitement at her coming home and we cannot hear what new music she has brewing!
You don’t need us to tell you it was LIT! See you for yourself this week on #LIT360!
