Martin Wagura professionally known as Gwaash is a Kenyan local artist making moves in the Gengetonne scene. Born April 1st, 1997, he was raised in a family of 5 and grew up in Umoja Estate where he acquired the name “Gwaash” which is sheng for a helpful person; ‘mtu wa kusaidiana.’
Gwaash has been in the music scene for almost 2 years now. He started out as a Trap/Shrap artist releasing an album and mixtape. He
formed FloodOutGang and this is how he managed to break into the scene with his musical debut ‘Sponyo’ (Sponsor) which currently has over 400,000 views on YouTube. He later released his hit song Wabebe which established his unique sound which is a fusion of Genge and Kapuka with a touch of Gwaash.
YouTube and social media have been paramount to his musical career gathering over a million views on YouTube and over 20,000 followers on social media. He is one of the new age artists to watch as he continues to grow his following while collaborating with like-minded individuals in the genre.
