When Bahati first released his first single “Siku Ya Kwanza” Kevin Kioko aka ‘Bahati’ he never imagined that it would blow up the way it has. The song was about the first day he got saved and how his life inevitably changed soon after. It was an instant hit! In the same year, he won the very strongly desired New Gospel Artist of the year at the Groove Awards in 2013, an event which was graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta that year. If ever you needed a fairytale story of success, that has got to be it….right?
Unlike many stars in the music business, this was not enough for Bahati. It was only the beginning of a dream career. He has gone on to collaborate with international artists, most notably Jamaican songstress Alaine. A clip of bridesmaids and groomsmen dancing to a song that he did with her [Alaine] went viral and after that, no one could really question that Bahati put Kenyan gospel music on the map.
On top of being part of the E.M.B records – a record label in the country – this talented guy has time to shoot a whole reality TV show on NTV, and you guessed correctly it the first of it’s kind. Where he found time to sit down and hang out with the #LIT360 crew we don’t know, but we’ve taken a page from his book and we’re very grateful!
Take a moment from your day and see what he sad to say! #LIT360
